Oncology Department. Preference will be given to those who are
Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) in the state of Georgia. However, we encourage applicants with relevant experience and a commitment to excellence in patient care to apply.

Oncology Department is dedicated to providing compassionate, cutting-edge care to pets battling cancer. We offer a wide range of services, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, palliative care, and advanced diagnostics.
Your RoleAs a member of our Oncology team, you will play a vital role in supporting pets through their cancer journey. Your responsibilities will include:
- Chemotherapy and Treatment Support: Administer chemotherapy treatments safely, monitor for side effects, and educate clients on post-treatment care.
- Patient Monitoring & Support: Oversee oncology patients during treatment, administer pain management, and provide supportive care.
- Advanced Diagnostic Procedures: Assist with fine needle aspirations, biopsies, cytology, and histopathology.
- Radiation Therapy Support: Prepare patients, position them for sessions, and manage post-treatment care.
- Client Communication & Education: Guide pet owners through treatment options, provide clear instructions on at-home care, and offer emotional support.
- Record Keeping & Treatment Plans: Maintain accurate electronic medical records and collaborate with oncologists to update treatment plans.
- Pain Management & Palliative Care: Administer pain relief and comfort care for patients in all stages of cancer.
- Oncology Team Collaboration: Work closely with board-certified oncologists and other specialists to ensure coordinated care.
Qualifications- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; additional schooling in veterinary technology preferred.
- Certification: Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification is required. Additional certification in Oncology, Emergency and Critical Care (ECC), or Anesthesia is highly preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), with preference for experience in oncology, chemotherapy, or specialty care. Experience administering chemotherapy treatments, managing side effects, and understanding cancer progression and treatments is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in chemotherapy administration, IV catheter placement, and pain management techniques. Strong skills in bloodwork, urinalysis, FNA (fine needle aspiration), and assisting with biopsy procedures. Familiarity with digital radiography, ultrasound, and other diagnostic imaging techniques for oncology patients.
- Client Communication & Compassionate Care: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex treatment protocols to clients. Ability to provide compassionate care during difficult decisions and offer emotional support to clients coping with a cancer diagnosis and treatment challenges.
- Attention to Detail & Critical Thinking: Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to adjust treatment plans based on patient progress or side effects. High attention to detail when monitoring patients during chemotherapy or radiation therapy, ensuring accuracy and safety.
- Physical & Emotional Resilience: Ability to manage physically demanding tasks, including patient handling and positioning for chemotherapy or radiation treatment. Compassionate, resilient, and empathetic in providing care to both patients and their families.
