Job summary

The MSPCA-Angell is hiring a Veterinary Assistant or Certified Veterinary Technician at our Cape Adoption Center in Centerville, MA. This full-time role offers 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, on-site with a sign-on bonus for CVTs.

Compensation is hourly, with Assistant rates from $20–$30 and Technician rates from $24–$32 per hour, plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus. You will support high-quality care for homeless animals and underserved communities.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience as veterinary assistant or veterinary technician.
• Certified technician required for technician role.
• Spanish proficiency encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff veterinarian with procedures and treatments for homeless animals awaiting adoption.
• Assist with examination, vaccination and medical testing of incoming animals.

Full-time 40 hours per week position, Monday – Friday. Sign on bonus for CVTs!

The hourly pay rate will be determined based on skill level. Assistant level pay rates range from $20.00 - $30.00 per hour. Certified Technician level pay rates range from $24.00 - $32.00 per hour with a $5,000 sign-on bonus! Please note that candidates with additional experience or credentials may be eligible for compensation aligned with their qualifications.

THE POSITION:

We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant or Certified Veterinary Technician to assist with procedures for homeless animals at our adoption center and with owned patients from our low-cost community clinic.

This is your opportunity to be a part of working in a clinic which outreaches to underserved local communities and helps care for the thousands of homeless animals at our Cape Adoption Center.

Duties include assisting staff veterinarian with procedures and treatments required to ensure and maintain the health of homeless animals awaiting adoption. This position assists our veterinary team and shelter staff with the examination, vaccination and medical testing of incoming animals. This position also includes surgical monitoring for spays/neuters, dentals, and other surgical procedures for animals awaiting adoption and for animals seen through our community clinic for low income clients. We see an average of 125 owned patients a month and the position offers exposure to a diversity of surgical and medical cases rarely seen in private practice.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for applicants with at least one year of experience as a veterinary assistant or veterinary technician. If applying for the technician position, you must be certified. Any applicants with experience in anesthesia monitoring are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applicants with a proficiency in Spanish are also strongly encouraged to apply.
