Job summary

Eye Care for Animals Far West, a specialty veterinary ophthalmology practice in Austin, TX, is seeking a part-time Veterinary Technician. Responsibilities include animal handling, pre/post-operative care, and preparing medications, plus presenting financial options to clients.

Excellent communication and multitasking abilities are essential. Applicants with veterinary technician experience are preferred; licensure is optional.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a veterinary technician is required.
  • Licensed Technician preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient in IV catheters placement, blood work, and IV/IM/SQ injections.
  • Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and operating monitoring equipment.
  • Team player, eager to learn, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (email, files, typing, etc.).
  • Ability to multi-task.

Veterinary Technician - Ophthalmology

Far West: 3908a Far West Blvd, Ste A, Austin, Texas 78731

Part-time: Tuesday (8am-5pm), Wednesday, and Fridays (8:45am-5pm). Some Mondays are required based on hospital needs.

You’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including intake and discharging patients.

Job Overview

The Veterinary Technician is responsible for a variety of tasks related to customer service and patient care within the veterinary practice. Tasks include animal handling, pre, and post-operative patient care, creating and presenting financial options and estimates, accurately entering service charges into the client database, extensive client interaction, and preparing medications.

  • Previous veterinary technician experience required
  • Licensed Technician preferred, but not required
  • Proficient in IV catheters placement, blood work, and IV, IM, and SQ injections
  • Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and working with various monitoring equipment
