Job summary

Eye Care for Animals Far West in Austin, TX is seeking a Veterinary Technician – Ophthalmology for part-time shifts on Tue, Wed, and Fri with some Mondays as needed. You’ll handle animal care, outpatient procedures, and client interactions in a fast-paced ophthalmology setting.

The role requires prior veterinary technician experience; licensed preferred. Responsibilities include anesthesia monitoring, IV catheter work, and assisting with medications and billing.

Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary technician experience required.
  • Licensed Technician preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood work, and IV/IM/SQ injections.
  • Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and operating monitoring equipment.
  • Team player with strong communication skills.
  • Eager to learn; self-motivated in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy clinic.

Veterinary Technician – Ophthalmology

Far West: 3908a Far West Blvd, Ste A, Austin, Texas 78731

Part-time: Tuesday (8am-5pm), Wednesday, and Fridays (8:45am-5pm). Some Mondays are required based on hospital needs.

You’ll play an important role in pets' lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands‑on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including intake and discharging patients.

Job Overview:

The Veterinary Technician is responsible for a variety of tasks related to customer service and patient care within the veterinary practice. Tasks include animal handling, pre, and post‑operative patient care, creating and presenting financial options and estimates, accurately entering service charges into the client database, extensive client interaction, and preparing medications.

  • Previous veterinary technician experience required
  • Licensed Technician preferred, but not required
