Job summary

Veritas Veterinary Partners in California seeks a Registered Veterinary Technician to join PESCM's 24/7 hospital team. You will work with oncology, anesthesia, and critical care, delivering compassionate nursing and client communication.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Registered Veterinary Technician or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee appointments and guide clients through their visit.
  • Assist Oncologist with in-patient assessments, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
  • Obtain and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, fluids, FNA).
  • Utilize imaging modalities (radiography, CT) for evaluation.
  • Perform and monitor anesthesia/sedation events and recoveries.
  • Accurately calculate and deliver anesthetic agents, fluids and CRIs.
  • Review medical records relevant to patient care.
  • Provide empathy and nursing care as a strong patient advocate during hospitalization.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure safety and best practice care.
  • Educate clients on oncology disease processes.

What you will bring
  • Experience working as a Registered Veterinary Technician; knowledge with preparation and administration of various chemotherapeutic agents a plus
  • Open to consider those with considerable veterinary assistant or uncredentialed technician experience in a Veterinary Assistant Level 4 position
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written; organizational skills; proactive thinking and a positive attitude are also a must
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required.

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing appointments and managing clients throughout their visit
  • Participating with the Oncologist’s in-patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
  • Obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates
  • Utilizing different modalities of imaging for patient and procedural assessment such as radiography and CT
  • Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events
  • Accuracy in calculating and delivering anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIs
  • Review and understanding of all medical records pertinent to patient care
  • Providing empathy, comfort, and unparalleled nursing care to all patients being a strong patient advocate during the patient's hospitalization
  • Maintaining all equipment on a per-use basis ensuring the safety and best practice care of all patients
  • Providing extensive client communication and education on various oncology disease processes
Salary

Salary: $30.00 - $36.00 / hour, dependent on experience

Sign-on Bonus

$3,000 for licensed technicians

Schedule

Tuesdays through Fridays, 7:30 am – 6:00 pm
