Job summary

Veritas Veterinary Partners seeks a qualified Registered Veterinary Technician to join our 24/7/365 hospital network. You will work closely with an oncology team, handle clinician-led patient care, and support diagnostics, anesthesia, and client education.

Qualifications

  • Licensed veterinary technician with oncology experience preferred.
  • Experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician or related role in veterinary oncology.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; proactive and collaborative.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee appointments and manage clients during visits.
  • Participate with the oncology team in-patient assessment, diagnostics, and treatments.
  • Obtain and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, fluids, FNA).
  • Utilize imaging modalities (radiography, CT) for patient assessment.
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia and related CRIs.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure safety and best-practice care.
  • Provide extensive client communication and education on oncology processes.

PESCM, located in San Rafael, is the only 24/7 veterinary hospital in Marin County, with specialties in internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, surgery, neurology, cardiology, urgent care, emergency, radiology and critical care. What you will bring
  • Experience working as a Registered Veterinary Technician; knowledge with preparation and administration of various chemotherapeutic agents a plus
  • Open to consider those with considerable veterinary assistant or uncredentialed technician experience in a Veterinary Assistant Level 4 position
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written; organizational skills; proactive thinking and a positive attitude are also a must
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long‑term relationships with colleagues, clients and community is required
  • Positive outlook and ability to work well in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing appointments and managing clients throughout their visit
  • Participating with the oncology team in‑patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments and procedures
  • Obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid and fine needle aspirates
  • Utilizing different modalities of imaging for patient and procedural assessment such as radiography and CT
  • Executing, monitoring and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events
  • Accuracy in calculating and delivering anesthetic agents, fluids and CRIs
  • Review and understanding of all medical records pertinent to patient care
  • Providing empathy, comfort and unparalleled nursing care to all patients, being a strong patient advocate during the patient’s hospitalization
  • Maintaining all equipment on a per‑use basis ensuring the safety and best‑practice care of all patients
  • Providing extensive client communication and education on various oncology disease processes
Salary

$30.00 – $36.00 per hour, dependent on experience

Sign On Bonus

$3,000 for licensed technicians

Schedule

Tuesday through Friday, 7:30 am – 6:00 pm

Base Pay: $30 USD – $36 USD
