Job summary

Highland Animal Hospital in Needham, MA is hiring a full-time Certified Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to provide skilled care and exceptional client service. The role includes patient care, lab work, radiographs, and medication administration.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of veterinary experience required.
• CVT certification is preferred.
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
• Knowledge of common disease states and alerting veterinarians.
• Familiarity with DEA, OSHA and hospital safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with patient care, exams, surgery, anesthesia and recovery.
• Safely restrain animals with compassion.
• Communicate care instructions and status updates to clients.
• Perform lab work, radiographs, injections and IV catheter placement.
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with dispensing medications.
• Keep exam rooms, treatment areas and equipment clean and stocked.
• Follow hospital safety and regulatory guidelines at all times.

Job description

Salary: $25 - $26 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule: This is a full-time position scheduled 4 days per week, consisting of two 12-hour shifts and two 5.5–6-hour shifts. Monday - Friday shifts vary between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., with rotating Saturday shifts from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. required.
