Veterinary Technician – Neurology

Full-time: Mon-Thur 7:30am or 8am-6pm with some flexibility to stay later as needed for surgeries. On-call required.

Pet Specialists of Austin is looking for a Neurology Veterinary Technician to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You

As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your work will include outpatient treatments, laboratory tests, surgery assistance, and support services such as admitting and discharging patients.

Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • Personal fondness for dogs and cats
  • 2+ years working in a veterinary setting (clinic or hospital)
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to follow directions and accept supervision
  • Experience with restraint techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Positive attitude under pressure
  • Ability to lift objects and patients up to 50 pounds
  • Confidence in running anesthesia and understanding recovery processes
Role Responsibilities:

Assist service leads and teammates in daily operations, perform technical and administrative tasks, provide top-quality care, and maintain a compassionate approach. Work under supervision until fully trained and approved to work independently.

  • Team player who supports daily tasks
  • Patient admission and discharge, including client greeting, history taking, and vitals
  • Assist with examinations, diagnostics, restraint, radiography, blood draws, and anesthesia
  • Maintain cleanliness and communicate clearly with clients
  • Explain post-procedure and long-term care instructions
  • Provide basic animal husbandry and care for in-hospital patients
