Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH) in California is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our Medical Oncology team. The role involves supportive nursing, patient advocacy, and collaboration with DVMs across diagnostics, treatment, and chemotherapy administration.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician in a progressive hospital.
• RVT or VTS credentials required or pursued.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing appointments and managing clients during visits.
• Participating with DVMs in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
• Obtaining and processing lab samples (blood, urine, fluids, FNA).
• Using imaging modalities for patient and procedure assessment.
• Executing and monitoring sedation and anesthesia events.
• Providing empathetic nursing care and advocacy during hospitalization.
• Maintaining equipment per-use for safety and best practice.
• Knowledge of chemotherapeutic agents; on-site training provided.
• Educating clients on oncology disease processes.

About the Job:

• Overseeing appointments and managing clients throughout their visit.
• Participating with DVM's in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
• Obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates.
• Utilizing different modalities of imaging for patient and procedural assessment.
• Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events.
• Providing empathy, comfort, and unparalleled nursing care to all patients being a strong patient advocate during the patient's hospitalization.
• Maintaining all equipment on a per-use basis ensuring the safety and best practice care of all patients
• Knowledge, along with preparation and administration of various chemotherapeutic agents is preferred. (Additional on‑site training will be provided)
• Providing extensive client communication and education on various oncology disease processes.

Schedule:

10 hour days (Days TBD), part time or full time

About You

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working (Veterinary Technicians) in a progressive veterinary hospital setting required.
• RVT or VTS
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long‑term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required.
• Positive outlook and ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected.

Wage Ranges

Veterinary Technician: $28 - $40 per hour

Veterinary Technician Specialist: $35 - $48 per hour
