Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in East Dallas, TX is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Technician for the Internal Medicine department. The role involves coordinating with internists, communicating with clients, and assisting with anesthesia, ultrasound, endoscopy, radiology, and lab work.

The ideal candidate will perform medical math, CRI calculations, and help discharge patients with education to ensure quality care.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between internists and clients regarding histories, care instructions, lab results, and patient updates.
• Assist with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, x-rays, and lab sample collection.
• Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery, and handle medical math calculations (CRIs, dosages).
• Discharge patients with basic client education (insulin, SQ fluids, feeding tube demonstrations).
• Support with endoscopic, radiology, and ultrasound procedures and maintain equipment.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in East Dallas, TX is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join their fast-paced Internal Medicine department.

As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technicians, you are a liaison between our internists and our clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors. You will be involved with client contact through phone calls, email, and in person conversations. Additionally, you will be assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking x rays, and obtaining lab samples. Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills required.

As an IM Veterinary Technician, you will…

• Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
• Calculates all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.).
• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia
• Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.
• Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway). Clean and maintain equipment following procedure.
• Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations.
• Additional job duties as assigned.
