Job summary

Lerner Clinic within the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Veterinary Technician II to provide high quality anesthesia support and assist with surgical procedures in a busy, high-volume setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Associate or bachelor's degree from an AVMA-accredited institution providing training in veterinary technology, veterinary nursing, or veterinary science plus 1 year of experience as a veterinary technician.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and under supervision for advanced tasks.
• Comprehensive understanding of medical terminology and veterinary pharmacology.
• Ability to teach and share knowledge with colleagues and students.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical and anesthesia support for all clinical programs, ensuring patient safety.
• Assists students and doctors with patient evaluation and sedation; induces and monitors anesthesia.
• Keeps required surgical and anesthetic supplies ready and organized.
• Helps organize and run orientation for ISAAST; trains students in examinations and animal handling.
• Delivers hands-on instruction in anesthesia, surgical preparation, and sterility for ISAAST and PCP rotations.
