Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program.
• Certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician in the state of employment (NJ).
• Basic knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and common diseases.
• Ability to handle animals safely and humanely.
• Strong communication skills to interact with veterinarians, staff, and pet owners.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
• Collect and process laboratory samples including blood, urine, and tissue.
• Administer prescribed medications and vaccinations to animals as directed.
• Monitor and record vital signs and patient progress during treatment.
• Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of instruments and work areas.
• Educate pet owners on post‑treatment care, nutrition, and general animal health.
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals.
• Perform diagnostic imaging such as X-rays under veterinarian supervision.
