Job summary

Custer McDermott Animal Hospital in Plano, TX is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our five-doctor practice focused on small animals and exotics. You will assist veterinarians during exams, run in-house tests, and support surgical procedures with anesthesia monitoring and instrument care.

The role requires at least 1 year of clinical veterinary tech experience, strong radiology and venipuncture skills, and a collaborative team approach in a busy clinic.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician in a clinical setting.
• Solid knowledge of venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and radiology.
• Team-focused mindset with willingness to jump in where needed.
• Strong time management and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, and procedures.
• Run in-house Idexx laboratory testing, flotation, and cytologies.
• Handle and restrain animals, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, radiology.
• Support in surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring, recovery, and instrument care.
• Provide professional communication with clients and staff.
• Demonstrate understanding of pharmacology and medical terminology.
