Custer McDermott Animal Hospital in Plano, TX is hiring a Veterinary Technician. We are a 5-doctor small animal and exotics hospital offering wellness, dentistry, surgery, exotics, and more.

This full-time role involves assisting veterinarians during exams, lab work, dental cleanings, radiographs, and anesthesia support. We value reliable technicians with teamwork, time management, and compassionate client communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician in a clinical setting.
• Solid knowledge of venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and radiology.
• Collaborative, team-first mindset and willingness to help where needed.
• Strong time management, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Positive attitude, reliability, and genuine passion for veterinary medicine.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, and procedures
• Run in-house Idexx laboratory testing, flotation, and cytologies
• Use strong technical skills, including handling and restraining animals, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, diagnostics, dental cleanings, and radiographs
• Support in surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring, recovery, and instrument care
• Provide professional, compassionate communication with clients and staff
• Have a strong understanding of pharmacology and medical terminology
