Job summary

Portland Vet Stroudwater is opening a new general practice and seeks a licensed veterinary technician to support exams, diagnostics, anesthesia, and surgeries.

This full-time role offers a 4-day schedule (Mon-Thu, 7:30am–6pm) with compensation starting at $27/hour, commensurate with licensure and experience. Join a modern GP facility with CBC, chemistries, cytologies, digital radiography and ultrasound.

Qualifications

• Licensed/Credentialed veterinary technician required.
• 1–2 years in small animal practice including surgery preferred.
• Excellent client and team communication skills essential.
• Comfort with practice management software and diagnostic tools.
• Compassionate, collaborative team player with initiative.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, anesthesia monitoring, lab work, venipuncture, and catheter placement.
• Assist with spay/neuter and mass removals and routine surgeries.
• Support patient intake, client communication, and treatment education.
• Help manage patient flow and appointment coordination in a fast-paced GP setting.
• Collaborate with the GP team to shape workflows and best practices from day one.

Veterinary Technician - General Practice

Join Portland Vet Stroudwater and build something new from day one! As our new GP clinic opens its doors, we’re seeking a licensed or credentialed veterinary technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) to help deliver exceptional patient and client care in a collaborative and expanding environment.

Anticipated Schedule

This is a full-time position

• Flexible 4-day schedule to start, set schedule of Monday - Thursday (7:30am to 6pm) schedule as of September 2026
• Potential for schedule change or start time change in future, or weekend day with growth

• Starting at $27/hour, commensurate with experience and licensure

Ideal Candidate

We're looking for a skilled, collaborative veterinary technician who is excited to help build a positive team culture and play an active role in launching a brand-new general practice

• Licensed/Credentialed veterinary technician; very experienced veterinary assistants may also be considered
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in small animal practice including surgery
• Excellent communication skills with clients and colleagues
• Comfortable using practice management software and diagnostic equipment
• Demonstrates compassion, teamwork, initiative, and respect
