Job summary

Fresh Pond Animal Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant. This full-time role offers a competitive hourly salary and a Monday–Friday schedule with alternating Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a veterinary technician or veterinary assistant in a small animal practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
• Obtain patient histories and keep accurate medical records
• Prepare exam rooms, instruments, and equipment
• Restrict patients safely and compassionately during exams and procedures
• Administer medications, vaccines, and anesthesia as directed
• Monitor anesthesia, vital signs, and patient recovery
• Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostic testing
• Provide nursing care to recovering patients
• Educate clients on medications, treatments, and preventive care
• Keep the treatment area clean, organized, and efficient
• Support daily hospital operations and patient workflow

Salary: $18.00-22.00 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: 4 days per week with alternating Saturdays

What You’ll Do

As a Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant at Fresh Pond Animal Hospital, you will:

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
• Obtain patient histories and keep accurate, thorough medical records
• Prepare exam rooms, instruments, and equipment so appointments run smoothly
• Safely and compassionately restrain patients during exams and procedures
• Administer medications, vaccines, and anesthesia as directed by the veterinarian
• Monitor anesthesia, vital signs, and patient recovery
• Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostic testing and lab work
• Provide attentive nursing care to recovering patients
• Educate clients on medications, treatments, and preventive care
• Keep the treatment area clean, organized, and efficient
• Support daily hospital operations and patient workflow

Responsibilities may vary based on hospital needs as well as your experience, training, certifications, credentials, and assigned responsibilities.

What You’ll Bring
