Job summary

Pieper Veterinary in Connecticut is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician for emergency/ICU support across our hospital network. This per diem role offers hands-on ICU care, vitals monitoring, and collaboration with board-certified specialists.

You will contribute to triage, patient care, and admission processing while maintaining high compassion for pets and families. Prior CVT or Associate degree is preferred; VECCS Level 1 hospital status highlights our commitment to care.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced emergency or ICU setting.
• Restraint, triage, patient monitoring, ventilator support, IV placement.
• CVT license or associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on ICU care and monitor vitals.
• Collaborate with ER veterinarians and criticalists.
• Train teammates and improve processes.

Veterinary Technician - Emergency - Pieper Veterinary

Schedule & Pay

• Per Diem - Hours and shifts vary based on hospital needs. This position does not have a set weekly schedule or guaranteed number of hours.
• $21.00-$30.00/hour, based on experience.

What You'll Do

• Deliver hands-on ICU care: treatments, vitals monitoring, advanced diagnostics
• Work closely with board-certified Criticalists and ER vets
• Monitor patients closely using advanced equipment
• Communicate compassionately with pet parents
• Help train teammates and improve processes

What You Bring

• Experience in a fast-paced emergency or ICU setting
• Skilled in restraint, triage, patient monitoring, ventilator support, anesthesia, venipuncture, IV placement
• Associate's in Veterinary Technology and/or CVT license a plus
• Strong communicator, works well independently and on a team
