Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Langhorne, PA is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate Emergency + ICU team.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage cases, perform digital radiography, and interpret vital signs. We support growth through continuing education and a team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency veterinary settings preferred.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and vital signs.
• Proficient in radiography and venous access.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals (temperature, heart rate, resp rate, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal ranges for vital signs and alert Vet of changes.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer medications.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters.
• Place feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train co-workers.
• Address client concerns with empathy.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Langhorne, PA is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate Emergency + ICU team!

Schedule:

3x12 OR 4x10 hour shifts

Pay:

$21.00 - $43.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.

• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.

• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.

• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.

• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.

• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.

• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.

• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.

• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.

• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.

• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
