Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Cary, NC, is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. The role offers $20.00 - $40.00 per hour, with advancement through our competency leveling system.

You will join a team of skilled veterinary professionals and have opportunities to grow while caring for pets in emergencies. The position emphasizes anesthesia management, triage, radiography, vital signs interpretation, and client communication.

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency veterinary care is required or highly preferred.
• Ability to induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia using standard equipment.
• Proficiency in radiography and proper patient positioning.
• Strong understanding of vital signs and interpretation of results.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters.
• Comfort with CPR and resuscitation protocols.
• Mentor and train other staff; provide client empathy and communication.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients with monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and record vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with correct patient positioning.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Initiate CPR for at-risk patients when needed.
• Perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central lines as required.
• Mentor teammates and address client concerns.

is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay

$20.00 - $40.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
