BluePearl Pet Hospital in Mount Pleasant, SC is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians for our Emergency and Critical Care department. This fast-paced role lets you apply anesthesia, radiography, and patient monitoring skills alongside a team of veterinary professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience in Emergency/ICU settings preferred.
• Ability to induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Proficient in digital radiography and patient positioning.
• Strong skills in monitoring vitals and interpreting changes.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergencies and obtain vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify risk and initiate CPR when needed.
• Perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters.
• Assist with feeding tube and central line care.
• Mentor and train coworkers with patience and empathy.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our thriving Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 / hour

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
