Job summary

After Hour Animal Hospital in North Little Rock, Arkansas is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our Thrive Pet Healthcare team. This full-time or part-time role supports urgent and critical patients in a fast-paced emergency setting, with overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) preferred.
  • Experienced Veterinary Assistants encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working as an assistant or technician in a veterinary practice is REQUIRED.
  • ER, ICU, or emergency experience a plus (not required).
  • Strong multitasking and communication skills.
  • Ability to work overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift and restrain animals safely.

Responsibilities

  • Triage and stabilize emergency and critical patients.
  • Assist with emergency exams, treatments, and procedures.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients (vitals, pain levels, condition changes).
  • Perform diagnostics including lab work and radiographs.
  • Place IV catheters, administer fluids, medications, and oxygen therapy.
  • Maintain accurate medical records.
  • Support clients with empathy during high-stress situations.

About The Hospital

After Hour Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our team. If you thrive in a fast‑paced environment and want to make a real impact during critical moments, this role is for you.

You’ll work alongside experienced emergency veterinarians caring for urgent, trauma, and critical patients while gaining hands‑on experience in emergency medicine.

We are a full-service veterinary emergency facility, stocked, staffed, and equipped for your family pet’s unexpected illness or injury. Our in‑house lab gets blood results fast and compliments our state‑of‑the‑art imaging including digital radiology, limited ultrasound, and endoscopy. We stock emergency drugs such as snake antivenom as well as blood and plasma transfusion products.

Your Experience & Skills
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) preferred

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $18-25/ hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
