Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a Dental Veterinary Technician to join our dentistry team in Lakewood, WA. The position offers a starting LVT I pay band from $24.00 to $35.20 per hour, with a Tuesday–Friday 7:30am–5:30pm schedule and advancement through our Kahuna leveling program.

You will perform oral examinations, dental charting, radiographs, and assist with procedures; you will also handle anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery under veterinarian direction.

Qualifications

• Experience in veterinary dentistry preferred.
• Ability to perform dental radiographs with proper positioning.
• Strong client communication and teamwork skills.

As a Dentistry Veterinary Technician:

• You will perform oral examinations.
• You will perform dental charting.
• You will take dental radiographs with proper positioning and technique.
• You will set up and assist with dental procedures and surgeries.
• You will perform professional dental cleanings including subgingival scaling, root planning, and curettage.
• You will perform effective oral nerve blocks in preparation for advanced procedures as directed by veterinarian .
• You will be able to calculate basic medical math.
• You will understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• You will administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• You will perform phlebotomy.
• You will have the ability to place peripheral intravenous catheters.
• You will perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• You will induce, monitor anesthesia and recover patients.
