Job summary

Lakefield Veterinary Group is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Technician to support a 6-Doctor practice at Babcock Hills Veterinary Hospital in Northwest San Antonio. This full-time role offers a 38-40 hour work week, alternating Saturdays, and benefits including time off and health coverage.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, NAVTA-certified preference, and at least two years in a pet care setting. This position emphasizes compassionate, professional care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant certificate preferred.
• Two years of experience in a pet care setting.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, and prepare exam rooms, medical equipment, and surgery between appointments.
• Obtain initial patient information, medical histories, vaccination records, and the reason for the pet’s visit; document and update records.
• Calm, soothe, comfort, and restrain pets before, during, and after procedures.
• Provide owners education and resources on pet care as directed by the Veterinarian.
• Monitor pets' physical status and vital signs post-surgery and during boarding.
• Perform basic health checks and assist Veterinarians with standard procedures.
• May administer medication and assist with routine lab tests under Veterinarian direction.
