Job Description Summary

The Tschabrunn Lab in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking to hire a Veterinary Technician to join a dynamic and cutting-edge translational research environment. The lab primarily focuses on using clinically relevant large animal models to investigate new cardiovascular therapies, mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias, and exploration of various imaging modalities. The lab has active collaborations across the School of Medicine and University of Pennsylvania. The Veterinary Technician will work closely with the PI and rest of the lab members to help execute and develop new techniques, generate data, maintain day-to-day operations and will be given the opportunity to accomplish independent research projects and advance their own education.

This position is contingent upon favorable funding.

Job Responsibilities

  • Translational research laboratory setup/organization; coordination of studies; assist during large animal electrophysiology experiments; specimen collection; tissue processing/histology; data analysis.
  • Assist with writing standard laboratory/research operations documentation; perform inventory analysis, supply purchasing, and other tasks as needed. Maintain logs, database systems, laboratory reports and regulatory documents for IACUC, ERHS, etc.
  • Analyze data, prepare data reports/powerpoint slides and participate in laboratory meetings.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Strong organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently are required. Previous experience working with large animals in the clinical or research setting is required.

Pay Range

$17.98 - $31.65 Hourly Rate. Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
