Job summary

Mill Pond Veterinary Hospital in Branford, CT is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our established small animal practice. We value teamwork, ongoing learning, and a respectful, collaborative culture.

As a key member of our clinical team, you’ll assist veterinarians during exams and procedures, monitor anesthesia, and provide high-quality care from the treatment room to the kennel. A CVT is preferred and weekend shifts are not required.

Qualifications

  • CVT credential preferred; experienced veterinary technicians are welcome to apply
  • At least two years of experience in a veterinary hospital
  • Confidence with anesthesia monitoring and surgical support
  • Strong patient handling and nursing skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude and commitment to compassionate care

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia throughout procedures
  • Recover surgical patients and provide attentive post-operative care
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory sample collection, and in-house diagnostics
  • Assist with radiology and other diagnostic procedures
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and document medical records accurately
  • Educate pet owners on medications, home care, and preventive medicine
  • Support daily treatment room operations while working closely with the veterinary team

Schedule: Full-Time | Weekday Schedule

Mill Pond Veterinary Hospital is looking for a dependable Veterinary Technician to join our established small animal practice. We believe in utilizing our technicians to the fullest, encouraging continued learning, and creating a workplace where collaboration and respect come first.

What You’ll Do

As an important member of our clinical team, you’ll help deliver outstanding medical care by:

  • Assisting veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Preparing patients for surgery and monitoring anesthesia throughout procedures
  • Recovering surgical patients and providing attentive post-operative care
  • Performing venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory sample collection, and in-house diagnostics
  • Assisting with radiology and other diagnostic procedures
  • Monitoring hospitalized patients and documenting medical records accurately
  • Educating pet owners on medications, home care, and preventive medicine
  • Supporting daily treatment room operations while working closely with the veterinary team
