Job summary

Blackstone Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant for a full-time, daytime role with no nights or weekend hours. You will work with veterinarians and support staff to provide compassionate, high-quality care and help keep daily operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Triage patients and obtain thorough medical histories.
  • Collect and document patient vital signs and assessments.
  • Safely handle and restrain patients during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Assist veterinarians with appointments, treatments, and medical procedures.
  • Support surgical procedures, including preparation, monitoring, recovery, and instrument care.
  • Assist with dental procedures and patient monitoring.
  • Educate clients about patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventive care.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
  • Keep treatment areas clean, organized, and stocked.

What our Veterinary Technicians & Veterinary Assistants Do

As a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant at Blackstone Animal Hospital, you'll work alongside our veterinarians and support team to deliver compassionate, high-quality care while helping keep each day running smoothly.

  • Triage patients and obtain thorough medical histories
  • Collect and document patient vital signs and assessments
  • Safely handle and restrain patients during examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Assist veterinarians with appointments, treatments, and medical procedures
  • Support surgical procedures, including patient preparation, monitoring, recovery, and instrument care
  • Assist with dental procedures and patient monitoring
  • Collect and prepare diagnostic samples based on experience and training
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian and within the scope of your role
  • Monitor patients and communicate changes in condition to the medical team
  • Educate clients about patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventive healthcare
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records
  • Keep treatment and patient-care areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready for the next patient
  • Anticipate the needs of veterinarians and teammates to promote an efficient daily workflow
  • Jump in wherever needed to support patients, clients, and coworkers
  • Occasionally participate in what can only be described as a cat rodeo
