Job summary

Carthage Animal Hospital is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant or Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our supportive team. This full-time role offers a steady schedule (Mon-Fri) with competitive pay based on experience and a strong benefits package.

You’ll work closely with veterinarians and technicians, assist with exams, procedures, and patient care, and have opportunities for professional growth through continuing education and credentialing support.

Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary assistant experience or an active veterinary technician license.
  • Strong animal handling and restraint skills.
  • Excellent communication and client education abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, procedures, and surgeries.
  • Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients.
  • Obtain patient histories and vital signs.
  • Prepare patients and treatment areas for procedures; perform venipuncture and collect samples as appropriate.
  • Place IV catheters as appropriate to experience and credentials.
  • Assist with laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures.
  • Support anesthesia monitoring and surgical recovery as needed.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and educate clients on medications and preventive care.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and hospital staff.

What You'll Do
  • Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, procedures, and surgeries
