Job summary

The Animal Dental Center, part of Ethos Veterinary Health, seeks a Veterinary Technician to support advanced dental and oral-surgical procedures in Columbia and Annapolis, MD. This full-time role offers mentorship and hands-on experience in a specialty setting.

You will work with board-certified specialists, learn dental software and imaging systems, and educate clients on oral care and post-operative instructions. Flexible schedule and potential extended days are available.

Qualifications

  • One to two years of experience as a Veterinary Technician.
  • Experience with anesthesia, IV catheterization, surgical patient care, and patient recovery.
  • Compassionate, empathetic approach to patient and client care.
  • Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Schedule flexibility, including occasional extended days.
  • Computer proficiency and ability to learn veterinary dental software and specialty technology.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty environment.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians during advanced dental and oral-surgical procedures.
  • Assist with anesthesia, IV catheter placement, patient preparation, and surgical support.
  • Provide attentive pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.
  • Monitor patients throughout anesthesia and recovery while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Educate clients on oral health, home care, and post-operative instructions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and support efficient case management.
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain treatment areas, equipment, and specialty instruments.
  • Learn and utilize veterinary dental software, imaging systems, and specialty technology.
  • Work closely with an assigned mentor during your onboarding period to develop technical skills and become familiar with hospital workflows.
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture.

Veterinary Technician, Dentistry & Oral Surgery

Starting at $19/hour
Full-time opportunity in Columbia and Annapolis, Maryland
Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week (7:30 AM–5:30 PM)

You’ll work alongside five board-certified veterinary dentists, one board-certified veterinary anesthesiologist (ACVAA), and five residents with more than 40 cumulative years of experience in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery. Our hospitals utilize advanced technology, including CBCT imaging and state-of-the-art monitoring equipment, while fostering a close-knit culture focused on mentorship, continuing education, and professional growth.

In your day-to-day, you will:
  • Support veterinarians during advanced dental and oral-surgical procedures.
  • Assist with anesthesia, IV catheter placement, patient preparation, and surgical support.
