Veterinary Technician, Anesthesia

CVT/RVT/LVT $25–$35/hr. – Animal Emergency & Specialty Center – Parker, CO

We are seeking a dedicated Anesthesia Technician to join our centralized anesthesia team and play a critical role in supporting patient care across multiple specialty services, including Surgery, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Oncology, Neurology, Radiology, and Emergency.

Job Description

As an Anesthesia Technician, you will collaborate closely with veterinarians and clinical teams to ensure the safe, efficient, and compassionate management of anesthetic and sedation procedures throughout the hospital. You will administer sedation, monitor patients under anesthesia, assist with anesthetic procedures, oversee patient recovery, and help maintain seamless patient flow.

Responsibilities
  • Execute prescribed anesthetic plans from pre-anesthesia until recovery and monitor throughout.
  • Perform patient pain assessments and develop analgesic plans using multimodal techniques.
  • Document patient care using AESC anesthesia forms in Smart Flow and EzyVet.
  • Set up and troubleshoot anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment.
  • Identify normal/abnormal anesthetic readings and collaborate with veterinarians for interventions.
  • Troubleshoot anesthetic complications and alert the prescribing veterinarian when appropriate.
  • Administer a wide range of anesthetic drugs.
  • Set up and maintain CRI’s for pain and hypotension management.
  • Facilitate anesthesia on soft‑tissue, orthopedic, and various surgical wound repair cases.
  • Obtain samples for diagnostic tests such as bloodwork and urinalysis.
  • Monitor anesthetic patients during diagnostics such as CT and MRI.
  • Execute anesthesia on patients with ASA status I–IV.
  • Assist and support other areas of the hospital as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least two years of veterinary technician experience in a surgical setting or anesthesia focus role.
  • Registered Veterinary Technician in Colorado, or ability to become registered upon hire.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluent English (speaking & reading). Fluency in multiple languages is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience in an Emergency or Specialty Hospital.
  • Experience performing anesthesia for MRI or CT scans.
  • Experience with critical anesthesia.
  • Ability to multitask and anticipate departmental needs.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience using medical record and whiteboard programs in a veterinary setting.
