Job summary

Old Derby Animal Hospital in Hingham, MA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join a growing team. You will work across inpatient and outpatient care, developing advanced skills in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, ultrasound, and more.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with inpatient care, surgery, and anesthesia.
• Confidence managing anesthesia and monitoring patient status.
• Understanding of fluid therapy, pain management, and perioperative care.
• Experience with dentistry and dental radiography; teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

• Place IV catheters, induce and intubate; manage anesthesia through recovery.
• Monitor ECG, SpO₂, ETCO₂, BP, temp and other parameters.
• Develop and oversee anesthesia and pain-control protocols.
• Provide perioperative nursing care and recovery support.
• Assist with routine and advanced surgical procedures.
• Support laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures; provide dental radiography.
• Perform complex diagnostics and ultrasound; inpatient nursing and fluid therapy.
• Prepare patients, suites and equipment with sterile technique.
• Maintain accurate medical records and communicate updates to the team.
• Educate clients on discharge instructions and care plans.
• Rotate between inpatient and outpatient care; mentor peers.
