Job summary

VCA West Suburban Veterinary Hospital in Westmont, IL is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our surgical-focused team. This full-time role offers $21.00–$26.00/hour with rotating Saturdays and opportunities to work closely with veterinarians across a broad caseload.

You will assist in surgical procedures, monitor anesthesia, perform dental radiographs, and provide high-quality perioperative care in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Strong anesthesia knowledge and surgical nursing experience.
• Confidence monitoring patients under anesthesia and during recovery.
• Experience with dental procedures and dental radiographs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a variety of surgical procedures and treatments
• Calculate, induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia patients
• Monitor vital signs and respond appropriately throughout surgical procedures
• Provide perioperative nursing care and patient advocacy
• Perform dental prophylaxis, charting, and dental radiographs
• Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostics
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
• Obtain patient histories, exams/TPR, and vaccines
• Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, and at-home care
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Support a collaborative team environment focused on outstanding patient care

What You’ll Do
