North Houston Veterinary Ophthalmology is currently accepting applications for full-time experienced technicians. North Houston Veterinary Ophthalmology is a referral practice located in Spring, TX. At North Houston Veterinary Ophthalmology, we understand the bond between clients and their pets. We have a board-certified specialist and a staff that shares the goal of providing the most advanced and affordable eye care possible.

We are currently looking to hire an experienced veterinary technician to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves pets and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience rooming patients, surgical assisting experience, and knowledge of equipment used, drawing blood, and proper positioning, experience with proper animal handling and restraint, understanding the importance of client education, and being a positive and motivating team member.

Requirements:

  • Must have 2+ years of veterinary technician experience
  • Surgery technician or surgery experience required
  • Must be able to perform venipuncture
  • Must have experience in anesthetic induction, maintenance, and monitoring
  • Must be able to place I.V. catheters efficiently
  • Must be familiar with veterinary terminology and anatomy
  • Must be familiar with specimen collecting for lab submission
  • Must be able to handle and restrain animals
  • Must be able to maintain accurate medical records, both written and electronically
  • Must be able to clearly communicate with clients, doctors, and staff
  • Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Must maintain a positive and professional attitude
  • Must maintain a professional appearance
  • Must be able to carry up to 40 lbs unassisted

The hourly pay rate for this position starts at$20.00 per hour, this varies depending on experience, education, certifications, licensure, and location.

Qualifications

E xperience as a veterinary technician or assistant .

Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of clinical procedures .

Excellent communication and teamwork skills .

Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, RVT, or LVT) preferred – or eligibility to obtain licensure based on state requirements.

Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required .

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and surgical procedures .

Safely handle and restrain animals; administer medications and vaccines .

Collect lab samples and maintain accurate patient records .

Educate clients on pet care and ensure a clean, organized work environment .
