Qualifications

Veterinary Technician

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-quality nursing care for animals at Busch Gardens and wildlife rehabilitation cases.
  • Assisting veterinarians with medical and surgical procedures, including animal restraint, anesthetic monitoring, medication administration, radiographs, and husbandry for hospitalized animals.
  • Performing laboratory procedures and preparing samples for external labs.
  • Maintaining hospital areas and vehicles.
  • Entering data into medical records and hospital databases.
  • Mentoring associate vet techs and participating in hospital training programs.
  • Managing administrative tasks such as inventory, ordering, and vendor relations.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Veterinary Technician degree or equivalent.
  • Certified Veterinary Technician required.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to meet driving requirements.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work 40 hours/week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong communication skills.

Physical and other requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent physical activities: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, grasping, and fine manipulation.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow protocols and work independently.
  • Professional, reliable, and considerate behavior.
  • Conservation-oriented mindset.
