Job summary

Amici Pet Hospital in San Diego, CA seeks an Experienced or Registered Veterinary Technician to join a fast‑paced team. The role offers a full‑time schedule with two Saturday shifts per month and competitive hourly pay based on experience and credentialing.

Expect strong anesthesia, surgical, and dentistry duties, along with patient monitoring, lab work, and client communication in a supportive hospital environment focused on pets and their families.

Qualifications

  • RVTs must have anesthesia, surgery, and dentistry experience.
  • Strong patient nursing and monitoring skills are required.
  • Excellent client service and communication abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures.
  • Perform dental prophylaxis and assist with dental procedures; RVTs may perform extractions where permitted.
  • Restrain patients using low‑stress handling techniques and assist veterinarians during examinations and treatments.
  • Administer medications and injections (IV, SQ, IM).
  • Collect lab samples and aid in in‑house diagnostics.
  • Obtain radiographs and maintain medical records with accuracy.
  • Provide compassionate client communication and teamwork across the hospital.

Position Details
  • Role: Experienced or Registered Veterinary Technician
  • Status: Full-time
  • Salary: $21.00–$30.00 per hour, based on experience and credentialing
  • Schedule: Full-time schedule, including two Saturday shifts per month (8:30 AM–2:30 PM)

What You’ll Do
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures
  • Perform dental prophylaxis and assist with dental procedures; RVTs may perform extractions where permitted
  • Properly restrain patients using low‑stress handling techniques
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and treatments
  • Administer medications and injections (IV, SQ, and IM)
  • Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement
  • Collect laboratory samples and assist with in‑house diagnostics
  • Obtain high‑quality diagnostic radiographs
  • Provide critical care nursing, including patient triage, treatment, and monitoring
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Communicate compassionately with clients and collaborate with teammates throughout the hospital
  • Assist reception team members as needed to provide an exceptional client experience

  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician; Registered Veterinary Technicians are encouraged to apply
