Job summary

Qualifications

  • Willingness to jump in and support the team as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and medical procedures.
  • Collect patient histories and obtain vital signs.
  • Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats.
  • Assist with sample collection and laboratory diagnostics.
  • Support digital radiography and diagnostic procedures.
  • Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Provide nursing support to hospitalized and post-operative patients.
  • Administer medications and treatments under supervision.
  • Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and patient spaces clean and organized.
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with pet owners.
  • Support boarding and hospitalized patients during weekend rotations.

Central Baldwin Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our growing small animal practice in Robertsdale, Alabama. Our two-doctor hospital provides compassionate, high-quality veterinary care to dogs and cats, with plans to welcome additional doctors in the near future.

We're looking for someone with hands‑on veterinary experience who is dedicated, organized, compassionate, and excited to be part of a team that's growing together.

About Central Baldwin Veterinary Hospital

Located in Robertsdale in the heart of Baldwin County, Central Baldwin Veterinary Hospital is a small animal practice focused on providing excellent veterinary medicine and a positive experience for pets and their families.

What You'll Do

As an experienced Veterinary Assistant, you'll work closely with our veterinarians and support team throughout the patient visit.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
  • Collect patient histories and obtain vital signs
  • Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats
  • Assist with sample collection and laboratory diagnostics based on experience and permitted scope
  • Support digital radiography and diagnostic procedures
  • Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Provide nursing support to hospitalized and post‑operative patients
  • Administer medications and treatments under appropriate veterinary supervision
  • Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment
  • Maintain accurate patient records
  • Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and patient spaces clean and organized
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with pet owners
  • Support boarding and hospitalized patients during scheduled weekend rotations

  • Previous veterinary hospital experience strongly preferred

Schedule
  • Full‑Time and Part‑Time scheduling options
  • Typically four 10‑hour shifts
