Job summary

Central Baldwin Veterinary Hospital in Robertsdale, Alabama, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our growing small animal practice. You will work closely with our veterinarians and support team throughout patient visits and procedures.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary hospital experience is strongly preferred.
• 1 Hands-on clinical Veterinary Assistant experience preferred.
• Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) are encouraged to apply.
• Strong animal handling and restraint skills.
• Ability to thrive in a busy hospital environment.
• Excellent client communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Collect patient histories and vital signs.
• Restrain and handle dogs and cats safely.
• Assist with sample collection and basic lab work.
• Support digital radiography and diagnostic procedures.
• Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgery.
• Provide nursing care to hospitalized and post-operative patients.
• Administer medications under supervision.
• Maintain sterile instruments and accurate patient records.
• Keep treatment areas clean and organized.
• Communicate with pet owners compassionately.
• Support boarding and hospitalized patients during weekend rotations.

What You'll Do

As an experienced Veterinary Assistant, you’ll work closely with our veterinarians and support team throughout the patient visit.

Responsibilities May Include

• Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
• Collect patient histories and obtain vital signs
• Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats
• Assist with sample collection and laboratory diagnostics based on experience and permitted scope
• Support digital radiography and diagnostic procedures
• Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
• Provide nursing support to hospitalized and post‑operative patients
• Administer medications and treatments under appropriate veterinary supervision
• Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment
• Maintain accurate patient records
• Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and patient spaces clean and organized
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with pet owners
• Support boarding and hospitalized patients during scheduled weekend rotations

• Previous veterinary hospital experience strongly preferred
• Hands‑on clinical Veterinary Assistant experience preferred
• Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) are also encouraged to apply

Schedule

• Full‑Time and Part‑Time scheduling options
