Rarebreed Veterinary Partners in Portland, ME is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our urgent care team. You will work with experienced doctors in a fast-paced setting, maintain medical records, and support a full-range of procedures with radiography and anesthesia readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CVT/LVT certification/licensure required.
• Minimum 3 years veterinary experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to pet patients and families.
• Maintain accurate medical records per hospital policy.
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Perform physical assessments and document observations.
• Assist Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental procedures.
• Take radiographs and restrain small animals as needed.
• Collect and process laboratory samples and interpret results.
• Explain follow-up and home care instructions to clients.

As part of our team, you’ll work with the latest technology, stay ahead through ongoing training, and partner with experienced doctors to deliver the highest quality of care to the pet patients we all love.

Veterinary Technician

$26.00 - $29.00 hourly pay rate

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones
• Keepaccuratemedical recordsin accordance withhospital policy
• Prepare andmaintainthe exam rooms and treatment areas
• Perform physical assessments and record your observations
• Keep furry friends calm and still during procedures
• Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients
• Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions
• Stock clinic treatment area and exam rooms, and inform inventory manager when supplies need to be ordered
• Assist the Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental procedures (be comfortable with blooddraws; prepare patients for surgery; administer anesthesia;monitorpatients during surgery and recovery; administer fluids)
• Care for all surgical materials and keep the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery
• Comfortable taking radiographs, small animal restraint, triage,monitoranesthesia
• Obtain laboratory sample collection, process and interpret results (fecal/parasite analysis, ear cytology, skin cytology, urinalysis, blood smears)
• Ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Able to commit to evening shifts and one weekend day
