Job summary

CanyonVet New Braunfels in Texas seeks a Veterinary Technician to provide end-to-end care for our patients. You will assist doctors, perform lab tests, manage client education, and help with intake and discharge.

We value hands-on surgical experience, strong communication, and the ability to juggle priorities. This full-time role includes Saturdays and offers growth through Thrive Pet Healthcare resources and continuing education.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience as a Veterinary Technician.
  • Licensure as a veterinary technician preferred.
  • Strong communication with clients, doctors, and staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient history and provide client education.
  • Maintain animal records.
  • Assist doctors with appointments and surgeries.
  • Help with check-in/check-out processes.
  • Restrain pets as needed.
  • Administer medications and vaccinations.
  • Place IV catheters and perform blood draws.
  • Monitor anesthesia and post-operative recovery.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Perform laboratory tests and diagnostics.

About You

You’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end‑to‑end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands‑on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including intake and discharging patients.

Role responsibilities:
  • Obtain patient history and provide client education
  • Maintain animal records
  • Assist doctors with appointments and surgeries
  • Help with the check in/check out process
  • Restraining pets
  • Administer medications and vaccinations
  • Place IV catheters
  • Perform blood draws
  • Anesthesia monitoring
  • Maintain supplies and equipment
  • Complete laboratory tests and diagnostics
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment
  • Performs any other duties as assigned
Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Veterinary Technician
  • Veterinary technician licensure preferred
  • Must have strong hands‑on surgical experience, including patient preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and post‑operative recovery
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, doctors, management, and hospital personnel
  • Self‑motivated and takes initiative
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Passion for helping animals and the people who care for them
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be available to work a few Saturdays each month

CanyonVet is a full-service small animal practice located in New Braunfels, Texas providing high quality, dedicated care for every patient. We are open Monday-Friday 7:30am-6pm and Saturday 8am-6pm
