Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited veterinary technology program or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Credentialing (LVT/RVT/CVT) is a plus.

  • Ability to safely handle small animals and adhere to safety and infection-control protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with exams and surgical procedures.

Role Description The Veterinary Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Lancaster, SC. This role supports veterinarians in providing medical and surgical care, including assisting with exams, administering medications and vaccinations, performing basic laboratory tests, and monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures. Daily responsibilities include maintaining treatment areas, preparing and sterilizing equipment, collecting and recording patient histories, and ensuring accurate medical documentation. The Veterinary Technician also provides client education on pet care, preventive health, medications, and nutrition, while helping manage patient comfort, restraint, and handling in a safe, low-stress manner. This position contributes directly to the hospital's standard of excellent patient care and positive client experiences.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess skills in Animal Care and Pet Care, including safe handling, basic husbandry, and monitoring of patient comfort and well-being.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Veterinary Technology, such as assisting with examinations, administering treatments and vaccinations, performing lab tests, and maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Anesthesiology support, including patient preparation, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with recovery under veterinary supervision.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Client Education, including explaining treatment plans, preventive care, medication instructions, and pet nutrition in clear, compassionate language.
  • Graduate of an accredited veterinary technology program or equivalent experience preferred; credentialing (LVT/RVT/CVT) is a plus.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting.
  • Comfort with handling small animals in various health conditions and adherence to safety, infection control, and hospital protocols.
  • Flexibility to work a full-time schedule, including possible weekends or extended hours as needed by the hospital.
