Job summary

Hickory Small Animal Hospital in Independence, LA, part of Thrive Pet Healthcare, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join a compassionate, collaborative team. This AAHA-accredited hospital emphasizes gold-standard medicine and excellent client experiences for Tangipahoa and Livingston parishes.

You will assist veterinarians, place IV catheters, monitor anesthesia, and help manage patient flow from admissions to discharges.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on veterinary technician or assistant experience.
• Proficiency with IV catheter placement, bloodwork, and injections.
• Experience monitoring anesthesia.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, surgeries, and procedures.
• Place IV catheters and perform blood draws and injections.
• Monitor anesthesia and operate diagnostic/monitoring equipment.

Hickory Small Animal Hospital is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate, collaborative team. As the first AAHA-accredited hospital in Tangipahoa and Livingston Parishes and a Feline-Friendly Certified practice, we are committed to gold-standard medicine, teamwork, and exceptional client experiences.

We proudly serve pets and families across Tangipahoa Parish, Livingston Parish, Loranger, Montpelier, and Amite City-treating every patient like family.

What You’ll Do

• Assisting veterinarians with exams, treatments, surgeries, and procedures
• Placing IV catheters and performing blood draws and IV, IM, and SQ injections
• Monitoring anesthesia and utilizing diagnostic and monitoring equipment
• Supporting patient flow through admissions, treatments, and discharges
• Educating clients on individualized pet care, medications, and treatment plans
• Maintaining accurate, thorough medical records
• Practicing safe restraint techniques and maintaining clean, organized treatment areas
• Mentoring and supporting fellow team members

What We’re Looking For
