Job summary

South Anderson Veterinary Clinic in Anderson, IN is hiring a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to join our collaborative team providing compassionate care for companion animals. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced teammates to deliver high-quality medical and nursing care across a full range of services.

This full-time role features a rotating schedule of four weekdays one week and three weekdays plus a rotating Saturday shift the next; there are no nights,

Qualifications

  • Prior veterinary assistant or technician experience preferred.
  • Strong technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, and anesthesia monitoring.
  • Excellent communication and client education skills.
  • Positive attitude and collaborative mindset.
  • Commitment to continued learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Triage patients and obtain medical histories, vital signs, and assessments.
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and procedures.
  • Provide compassionate nursing care from admission through discharge.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and diagnostic sample collection.
  • Obtain quality radiographs and perform in-house laboratory testing.
  • Assist with surgical and dental procedures, including patient preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and recovery.
  • Educate clients on preventive care, treatment plans, and medications.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and clean, organized treatment areas.
  • Support a positive, efficient workflow throughout the hospital.

What You'll Do
