Job summary

Bay State Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Services (BSVESS) in Swansea, MA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join us as a Learning & Development Coordinator. You will mentor and coach clinical staff while maintaining hands-on patient care responsibilities.

This role blends real-time coaching with onboarding, skills development, and generation of training resources to support emergency and critical care teams in a fast-paced hospital.

Qualifications

• CV or equivalent veterinary technician experience.
• 5+ years of veterinary experience, preferably in emergency and critical care.
• Strong technical skills in triage, anesthesia, ICU nursing, and emergency procedures.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and mentorship abilities.
• Previous training, leadership, or mentoring experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time coaching and mentorship to veterinary assistants and technicians.
• Lead onboarding and skills development for new clinical team members.
• Support competency training in triage, emergency stabilization, ICU nursing care, anesthesia, and critical patient management.
• Develop and maintain training guides, skills checklists, and educational resources.
• Partner with hospital leadership to identify training needs and support staff growth.
• Work scheduled shifts as a Veterinary Technician, maintaining strong clinical involvement and patient care responsibilities.
