Job summary

Advanced Veterinary Care in Orlando, FL seeks a Specialty Technician to support doctors and care for patients in a fast-paced, collaborative hospital. Prior veterinary experience is required, with preference for specialty/referral hospital background.

You will perform phlebotomy, anesthesia-related tasks, radiographs and IV catheter placements, while assisting with procedures and client communication. On-call incentives apply.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience is required, preferably in a specialty/referral hospital.
• Proficient in drug calculation and anesthetic skills.
• Comfort with phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, nasogastric tubes, radiographs, and in-house labs.
• Familiar with standard anesthetic protocols, induction, maintenance and monitoring.
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• On-call duties with incentives.

Responsibilities

• Increase efficiency of doctor staff by supporting patients, clients and hospital staff.
• Provide excellent medical support and compassionate care for patients.
• Act as a communication point between clients and hospital staff regarding patient status.
• Assist with room setup, cleaning and instrument processing as needed.

Specialty Technician Job Purpose:

• Increase efficiency of the doctor staff by providing care and support to patients, clients, and hospital staff.
• Provide excellent medical support and compassionate care for patients and clients.
• Act as a point of communication between clients and internal hospital staff regarding the status of patients in hospital.

Expectations / Requirements

• Prior veterinary experience is required. Previous experience working in a specialty/referral hospital preferred.
• Proficient in drug calculation and strong anesthetic skills.
• The candidate should be confident with phlebotomy, placing iv catheters, nasogastric tubes, radiographs, processing in house labs.
• The ideal candidate should be comfortable with standard anesthetic protocols, induction, maintenance, and monitoring of anesthesia.
• Display competency in general knowledge and nursing skills required to care for patients.
• As necessary, help with cleaning the procedure room, instruments and the setting up and breakdown of the procedure room.
• Must be comfortable to work on their feet, able to keel, bend to work with surgery patients. Adequate breaks will be provided (however will have times of being on your feet at times).
• Applicant should be able to lift patients and inventory up to 40 pounds.
• There will be some on-call responsibilities, however we do offer a competitive incentive for both being on call and when called in.
