Job description

As a Receptionist you will:

  1. Receive and place calls to clients for scheduling purposes.
  2. Prioritize multiple tasks in a calm, organized manner.
  3. Maintain proper documentation through client and pet records, such as referral documentation and medical history.
  4. Assist clients by providing instructions, information, invoices, dispensing prescriptions as per veterinarian’s instructions, and scheduling future appointments.
  5. Use hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and team members.
  6. Manage hospital finances by maintaining accurate balances, collecting client payments, and following cash handling procedures.
  7. Provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally.
  8. Educate clients on pet health, preventative care, and hospital services to advocate for pets.
  9. Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, pets, and team members.
  10. Show empathy towards clients and treat pets with compassion and respect.

Additional requirements include:

  • Utilizing standard office equipment.
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Experience with veterinary software preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Critical thinking skills to evaluate solutions and approaches.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, good judgment, and stress management skills.

Compensation and benefits:

  • Pay range of $13.35-$20.90/hour based on experience.
