Job summary

Powell Veterinary Center is seeking a Veterinary Practice Manager to join Thrive Pet Healthcare at Powell Veterinary Center – Powell Blvd in Southeast Portland, OR. The PM will lead hospital operations, staff development, budgeting, and client service improvement within a supportive Thrive network.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of veterinary hospital management, a business background, and strong leadership and communication skills to foster a positive workplace and outstanding client care.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hospital management or supervisory experience in Veterinary Medicine
• Bachelor's degree in business and/or equivalent business experience
• CVPM encouraged to apply
• Sound personal judgment in decision-making
• Capable of leading, managing, and coaching staff at all levels
• Demonstrated competence in all aspects of staff management, including hiring, coaching, and disciplinary action
• Demonstrated ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion
• Demonstrated competence in budgeting and financial reporting, including reading and analyzing a P&L statement
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• A commitment to outstanding client service
• Solid math and Excel/spreadsheet skills
• Ability to lift objects weighing 40 pounds without assistance and objects weighing more than 40 pounds with assistance

Responsibilities

• Oversee the business activities of the hospital, including hiring and training staff
• Work with leadership and finance to prepare and manage budgets
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Set fees and manage inventory with an inventory control system
• Manage hospital software and implement safety and security procedures
• Maintain a positive culture aligned with the hospital's plan and values
