Job summary

Berkeley Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to lead our growing team as the current manager steps back to school in August. The hospital combines general practice, urgent care, dentistry and surgery with visiting specialists, and is expanding into a larger treatment area under Fear Free principles.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in veterinary medicine.
• Prior management or leadership experience required.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build systems and lead a growing team.
• Passion for animal care and client relationships.
• Commitment to Fear Free and low-stress handling practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily hospital operations, including workflow, scheduling, and team coordination.
• Lead, mentor, and support staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
• Develop and implement protocols and standard operating procedures.
• Manage financial operations including budgeting, payroll, and expense tracking.
• Maintain inventory and vendor relationships.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations, safety standards, and licensing requirements.
• Support client experience by addressing concerns and maintaining high service standards.
• Assist with marketing and business development initiatives.
