Job summary

Southern Hills Animal Hospital is seeking a dynamic Practice Manager who blends strong leadership with hands-on veterinary technician experience. This on-site role requires medical-minded oversight and the ability to step into Lead Tech duties to support the medical team.

You will manage operations, supervise staff, oversee inventory and payroll, and ensure efficient workflows, high-quality patient care, and a positive team culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in a veterinary practice.
• Strong working knowledge of veterinary medical procedures.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work actively in a clinical environment.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and financial skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Medical Team: manage, mentor, train technicians and support staff; ensure efficient workflows and high-quality patient care; step into Lead Tech or RVT role when needed; support surgical, dental, and treatment operations; promote a positive, team-focused culture.
• Oversee Hospital Operations: hire, train, supervise support staff; maintain inventory and purchasing systems; implement safety procedures; coordinate scheduling for optimal coverage.
• Drive Financial and Administrative Excellence: manage daily accounting transactions and reporting; oversee accounts receivable/payable and payroll; ensure proper use of practice management software.
• Elevate Client Experience: foster strong client relationships; resolve conflicts with empathy; maintain high standards of service and communication.

Southern Hills Animal Hospital is seeking a dynamic, hands-on Practice Manager who brings both strong leadership skills and solid veterinary technician experience to our growing hospital.

This is not a desk-only management position. We are looking for a medical-minded leader who can manage operations and confidently step into the treatment area when needed. If you are an experienced veterinary technician who has grown into leadership, or a current Practice Manager who still loves being involved in patient care, this could be the perfect fit.

At Southern Hills Animal Hospital, the Practice Manager plays a vital medical leadership role. There must always be a Lead Technician or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) on-site, and when coverage is limited, the Practice Manager steps in to function as Lead Tech to support the medical team.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

Required

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a veterinary practice
• Strong working knowledge of veterinary medical procedures
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work actively in a clinical environment
• Excellent communication, organizational, and financial skills

Highly Preferred

• Veterinary Technician experience required
• RVT license strongly preferred
• Experience functioning as Lead Technician
• Comfortable working both on the floor and in an administrative capacity

Work Environment

This isan on-site leadership role. The Practice Manager is expected to be physically present to oversee daily operations and support staff and patient care.

This role may require:

• Occasional Saturdays
• Stepping into shifts when coverage is needed
• 35 to 40 hours per week over 5 days
