Priority Pet Urgent Care, a state-of-the-art clinic opening in Knoxville, TN, is seeking a well-rounded and experienced Practice Manager pre-opening to help us achieve our vision for an urgent-care facility opening in late October 2026. We will be available for urgent care pet needs every day from 4 pm to 12 midnight and are eager to serve the local community and their pets.

Responsibilities (Pre-opening)
- Equipment ordering and tracking
- Pre-opening marketing
- Vendor account setup
- PMS setup
- Supply purchasing
- Support staff interviewing, hiring and training in preparation for the grand opening
- Communicate effectively with pet owners and veterinary staff; demonstrate management, organizational, and customer service skills
- Make informal recommendations to the veterinary regional manager regarding staffing, hours, and other personnel matters affecting reception staff
- Prepare employee work schedules and manage the office staff
- Direct on-the-job training to develop employee skills, discuss performance requirements, and prepare appraisals
- Recruit, hire, onboard appropriate staff; manage performance, set salaries, and ensure alignment with hospital policies; assist with job descriptions
- Market the hospital to prospective customers and the veterinary community by identifying and attending local and regional events
- Resolve informal employee complaints and maintain effective employee-management communication
- Obtain information from owners to complete records, provide scheduling instructions, and relay practitioners’ orders for animal care and treatment
- Answer telephone calls professionally; address owner complaints promptly
- Exercise unbiased judgment in managing people and making personnel recommendations or disciplinary actions
- Establish inventory control to ensure adequate stock; review best prices; manage controlled drugs, equipment, returns, and supplier relationships
- Manage hospital policies, including DEA/Controlled Substances and OSHA
- Ensure payroll is completed and submitted accurately and on time
- Maintain good relationships with vendors to receive the best support
- Promptly notify veterinary staff of emergency cases
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Experienced or certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) with a minimum of 1 year of management experience or 3+ years veterinary experience preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and motivation skills; ability to direct and assist a team
- Ability to work well with all team members and support hospital operations and philosophy
- Compassionate and calm team-player
- Strong communication skills and ability to multi-task
- Highly organized with computer skills
- Knowledge of hospital procedures for assembling patient records and recording veterinary orders for activities, diet, tests, and treatments
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology to accurately enter information into patient records
- Self-starter with a desire to continue developing knowledge and skills
- Open availability with flexibility to change hours based on hospital needs
