Job summary

National Veterinary Associates is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the Veterinarian and Veterinary Technician teams. The role involves managing prescriptions, preparing medications, and maintaining pharmacy operations with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities include using practice management software, assisting with inventory, and communicating clearly with clients to ensure proper medication use.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years experience in veterinary medicine.
  • WA state veterinary technician license preferred, but not required.
  • Pharmacy experience or background preferred; knowledge of medication names, dosages and pharmaceutical calculations required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including prescription order entry systems and office equipment such as fax machines, label printers, and multi line phone systems.
  • Familiarity with legal guidelines and safety regulations in pharmacy practices and controlled substances.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and have critical thinking skills.
  • Must currently have or be able to obtain WA State Medication Clerk License.
  • Ability to work from a mostly sedentary position with heavy computer and phone use.

Responsibilities

  • Pharmacy duties
  • Manages prescriptions requested by clients from practice management software, online portals and email.
  • Prepare and fill medications for both outpatients and hospitalized patients where permitted by state law and in accordance with state law.
  • Perform computer entry of prescriptions in practice management software.
  • Assure maintenance of the pharmacy by keeping it clean and in order.
  • Work closely with Inventory Manager to assist with drug inventory control.
  • Stock and refill pharmacy supplies as needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive patient information.
  • Follow appropriate hospital protocol for the dispensing and logging of controlled substances.
  • Explain medications to the owners to assure they understand the doctor's instructions using excellent customer service skills.

Pharmacy Technician Job Duties
Job Summary

In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, the Pharmacy Technician is an invaluable member of the hospital team who works directly with the Veterinarian team, Veterinary Technician team and the Customer Service Representative team.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have 2-5 years experience in veterinary medicine
  • Current WA state veterinary technician license preferred, but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour depending on experience

Expected hours: 38-40 per week
