Adobe Animal Hospital-Los Altos in Los Altos, CA is seeking licensed veterinary pharmacy technicians to join our hospital pharmacy team. This full-time role offers daytime shifts in a fast-paced, retail-like setting focused on client service.

You will provide medication consultations, process refills for both in-hospital and out-patient patients, and enter patient data into our records. California license or eligibility within 6 months is required.

Qualifications

• Current pharmacy license in California or within 6 months of eligibility.
• Basic knowledge of human drugs; training provided for animal medications.
• Basic computer skills and ability to enter patient data into electronic records.
• Ability to understand and follow multiple instructions and complete tasks promptly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable around animals and clients.

Responsibilities

• Offer genuine client service with a professional, courteous attitude.
• Provide medication consultations on refills and new medications; training provided.
• Process prescription refills for Out-Patient and In-Hospital patients (~450/day).
• Enter patient charts and medical notes; perform basic computer tasks.
• Receive and execute multiple instructions accurately and promptly.

Overview

Job Details: Level: Experienced. Job Location: Adobe Animal Hospital-Los Altos - Los Altos, CA. Position Type: Full-Time. Education Level: High School. Salary Range: $22.50 - $24.00 Hourly. Job Shift: Day, 10-hour shifts, 1 weekend day worked per week.

We are looking for dynamic, customer service-oriented Licensed Pharmacy Technicians to work in our veterinary hospital's pharmacy in Los Altos. While you will be working in a veterinary hospital environment, we operate similarly to a retail pharmacy. You will not be expected to work hands-on with animals, but you should be comfortable around animals and medical procedures due to the exposure of delivering medications around our hospital.

Responsibilities

• Offer genuine client service at all times and maintain a professional, courteous, and helpful attitude.
• Provide medication consultations on refills and new medications. Training will be provided during a 90-day period.
• Process prescription refills and medications for Out-Patient and In-Hospital patients (approximately 450 prescriptions per day).
• Demonstrate knowledge of basic human drugs (brand and generic names); training will cover animal-specific medications.
• Enter patient charts and medical notes into the computer record; perform basic computer tasks.
• Receive multiple oral and written instructions and execute them accurately and in a timely manner.
• Handle phone calls regarding prescription refills and inquiries from clients, veterinary technicians, and outside pharmacies.
• Be comfortable around animals, clients, and medical procedures; assist with delivering medications during procedures as needed.
• Deliver medications and prescription formula food to clients in their cars in the parking lot.
• Maintain excellent written and oral communication and strong attention to detail.
• Maintain effective teamwork and communication under stressful situations.
